Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji of the Sri Pejawara Matha, Udupi will remain in the hearts and minds of many people for whom he was always a guiding light. A powerhouse of service and spirituality, he continuously worked for a more just and compassionate society
The seer who took sanyasa deeksha at a young age, became the pontiff of Pejawara mutt. He led the Udupi paryaya of the Astamatha tradition for the highest number of times. The seer was involved in social activities in addition to his spiritual sadhana. His contribution to the upliftment of Hindu dharma is immortal.
Seen as a “reformist seer” by many, he visited the Dalit colonies at a time when it was considered a taboo. His solutions to problems within the Hindu faith, such as caste system, were reforms without fully abandoning traditions.
He was strongly rooted in Hindu causes such as protection of cow and played an active role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
The Swamiji started many educational and social service organizations including Poornaprajna Vidyapeethah, a traditional gurukula and center for excellence in Sanskrit, Vedanta & Hindu philosophy.
May his soul attain ‘moksha’, may lord give strength to his disciples and his followers to bear the loss of the Swamiji.
